While in Veracruz in November with my parents we took a ride in a fishing boat through the mangroves. It was really quite beautiful. My mom took some photos too; in this one you can see the tree roots reaching down into the water:
On another note, my mom also took this photo of a small child dressed up in our hotel lobby handing out lollipops. Keep in mind that this is around the "Día de los Muertos" celebration, which includes a hint of Halloween:
